This 1973 BMW R75/5 was purchased new in 1973 by the current owner. This was the premiere bike in the showroom window at BMW of Colorado Springs. They installed the Rickman “Avon” fairing, low euro bars, bar end mirror and luggage rack, and put it up front for all to see. The owner used it for about 10 years for weekend trips to the Colorado mountains. It was never used for commuting or long cross country trips. On the original title, under the “previous title” column, it states “MSO”. As can be seen, the bike has only traveled 24,744 miles. Only minimal work has been done to get the bike running: cleaning of the gas tank, rebuilding the carbs, installing a new battery, cleaning and setting the points, checking the valve lash, and changing all fluids and oil filter. Unfortunately, it is winter in Colorado and the pictures of this bike do not do it justice. This bike is almost perfect, and with the extremely rare Avon fairing, is extremely collectable.
